華格納唐懷瑟(Tannhäuser): André Cluytens 1955 年拜魯特音樂節

  

華格納眾多樂劇之中,我最常聽的是《紐倫堡的名歌手》(Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg)和《唐懷瑟》(Tannhäuser)。這兩部樂劇特別明快悅耳,輕鬆有趣。每隔一陣子拿出來溫習,翻來覆去的播放,聽到開心處讓人手舞足蹈,高潮的片段更是教人動容,低迴不已。

多年來一路陪伴我的是 Solti 在 Decca 的版本。如同《指環》一樣,Solti 在 Decca 的唐懷瑟也相當著重錄音,效果處理的頗為「用心」。這個版本聽了十多年,給與我無數的歡樂與感動,無疑是相當優秀的版本。雖然喜歡唐懷瑟,但因為聽得輕鬆愉快,倒也沒有特別刻意收集其他版本,直到年前無意中在「新天新地」翻到法國指揮家 André Cluytens 於 1955 拜魯特音樂節的實況,才興沖沖的購入人生第二套唐懷瑟。


這份 1955 年拜魯特音樂節的唐懷瑟,是一場別具意義的演出。Cluytens 是第一位站上拜魯特音樂節舞台的法國指揮,而他第一次指揮拜魯特音樂節,就是 1955 年這齣唐懷瑟!撇開歷史意義,這個演出原也至為出色。Cluytens 是我最喜歡的指揮家之一,不論是貝多芬的交響曲或是法國歌劇,無疑都十分優秀。他的音樂隨時隨地都保有一份明亮、從容、帶著默幽感的高貴與優雅。在這個版本中,Cluytens 除了保持一貫高雅的特色之外,音樂流暢無比,長達三個小時的演出,一氣呵成。有趣的是,細部處理不僅層次細膩,而且尤其詼諧,把這部亦莊亦諧的鬧劇拿捏到好處,讓人簡直不知如何是好,笑中有淚、淚中有笑。Solit 版原也十分精緻,但與 Cluytens 一比,卻不免顯得匠氣。

除此之外,年輕的 Fischer-Dieskau 也是 Cluytens 版的一大亮點,黃金時期的歌聲光彩照人,單聽那美麗的音色,就足以讓人身心舒暢。這份  1955 年的 mono 錄音,原本並不如何期待它的音效表現,但我買入的 WALHALL 版本,雖然封面、手冊十分粗糙,但轉錄極佳,聲底乾淨,細節清晰,聲音更是飽滿。十來次聆聽之後,越來越「入魂」,甚至覺得比 Solti 在 Decca 的「發燒錄音」更為自然鮮活。這也難怪「新天新地」的老闆與其 fans 對這些小品牌如此推崇。後來發現 Orfeo 也有出版同一個演出的錄音,封面美麗許多,不過 Orfeo 的錄音品質,從來沒有讓我滿意過,不知道值不值得再收入一套?

It is quite unbelievable that you described that orfeo d'or's recording never satisfied you! for me they provide some best live historical recordings ever. meanwhile, they did not actually record them. they select the source from organisations such as festival/radio archives.

小弟手邊有一些 Orfeo 的唱片,當中不乏優秀的演出錄音,但說到錄音與轉錄的品質,小弟倒還真是想不出哪一張 Orfeo 讓我特別印象深刻。不知您有沒有特別推薦哪幾張呢?

i am listening geza anda at 1972's salzburgerfestipiele solo concert which was a performance combining poetry and electricity- especially schumann's carnival. it was neither perfectly played nor recorded. but- it's live. what i like about the recoding is that firstly it captured the atmosphere of the event and it has little dynamic compressure.

i reckon at onepoint that you do not like orfeo d'or's historical recording may be that they seldom polish the master tapes which cause the records sound raw. while that's the part i like most.

another record i would recommand is henryk szeryng and james tocco at 1979's salzburg
